When i saw that Chambers Gunsmith had started to sell LotharWalther barrels in calibre .25 with polygonical rifling i was curious and wanted to try one out right away.
Would it be good shit or would it perform as the older type of LW barrels without choke ?
Firs i phoned Chambers and wanted to know a little bit about the LotharWalther polygonical barrels, They where wery helpful and answered all my questions.
As You might understand it ain´t easy helping people who speak and write rather than good :-)
I needed one PCP host to try it on and, I choosed the Hatsan AT44 .25 mostly becouse of the low price but also couse i wanted to see how hatsans AT44 valve did look like.
The Hatsan44 was equiped with a .25 barrel straight from the factory and many people got fine results with that barrel, acctually it works better than you would expect when comparing the price of the rifle with more expensive rifles.
The hatsan44 barrel is just 480 mm long and 14mm in diameter , the LotharWalther is 605mm long and 16mm in diameter, it is heavy !

Changing to the new barrel was pretty straight forward, just mount the new barrel in the lathe and turn it down to about 11,05mm in diameter so that it fits perfectly in the breech, i didnt do any turning on the barrel outside the breech.
You can drill/mill the transferport directly into the barrel but i mostly make one barrel inlet/insert when mounting new barrels.
The LotharWalther .25 barrel is quite heavy so it was no alternative to have it free floating on the Hatsan AT44 , the breech on the Hatsan AT44 is realy not made for such a heavy barrel without using tha barrelsupport.
using barrelsupport on a PCP can, and will mostly, change tha way the barrel behaves when firing a shot, I wont dig any deeper into that and for a quick tryout of a new barrel it wont matter that much.

Ofcourse I had to enlarge the holes in the barrelsupport, they where about 14,5 millimeters with O-rings, I did a quick-n-dirty drilling them up to 16,05 millimeter without O-ring.
